6. Bebalung Typical Lombok

Walking in the mangrove forest in fact is not the main attraction. In the mangrove forest water area, you can play canoe which you can direct it into the mangrove’s alleys. If you do a Lombok adventure through this mangrove forest, you’ll feel like entering Amazon jungle. Sea creatures and coral reef look so clear from the canoe, because the water is so shallow and clear. The situation also calm because there are no waves here.

To get into Gili Sulat, from Mataram city, you have to go to crossing harbor at small village of Transad, at Labuan Pandan village east Lombok district. In this small island, you can find many many boats which ready to take you to cross to Gili Sulat. It takes 1 hour sea trip to the gili. 
The public transportation from Mataram city to small village of Transad is so rare. Hence you better take personal vehicle. If you depart from Mataram city, you have to take route Mataram – Narmada – Kopang – Masbagik – Aikmel – Labuan Lombok – Labuan Pandan village with length approximately 85 km. normally, with personal vehicles, it will take 1.5-2 hours.

While Telage village tends to do the finishing and decorating the pottery. 
In Penujak village, you can see almost all the pottery processes, starts from the forming, the burning, till finishing. All of them are done traditionally without machine. The pottery productions from Penujak village are sold in various prices starts from IDR 5,000 till IDR 200,000.

Malimbu Hill is located about 24 km from Mataram downtown or about 10 km from the north-side of Senggigi beach. The road to reach the area is quite challenging. If you are using a private car, it takes about 45 minutes to reach the area from Mataram.

There, you will see the sunset from the 25 meter cliff, but you don’t have to worry about your safety because you are protected by a strong guard rail. The cliff is filled with shrubs and you can see some monkeys that are looking for a small treat from the visitors. The south-side area is used for a parking lot, while the center to the North is used to watch the sunset.

There are not much trees that can be found here, so if you visit this beach at noon, it tend to be less comfortable. Moreover if many visitors are coming at the same time, they will compete to get shady under the tree. But the conditions are completely different if the sun starts to set. The beauty of the Lombok sunset is a magnet for you to stay in this beach. 
Tranquil, that is the advantage of Kaliantan beach besides the beach’s conditions which indeed clean and beautiful. This Lombok beach is perfect for you who like quite place to refresh your soul. 
In Sasak tribe’s culture, there us a ceremony which is quite famous called Bau Nyale. This Bau Nyale Ceremony is held once a year on February. The center of celebration is in Kuta Lombok and Kaliantan beach. During the event, those two beaches are so crowded by ceremony members and visitors, either it domestic or foreign one.

The public transportation is only operating till Jerowaru sub district. That is why; the perfect choice to visit it is by personal vehicle or car rental. 
Using personal /rental car, you should take Kota Praya-Mujur-Ganti-Sepapan-Jerowaru-Jor-Pemongkong-Ekas-Kaliantan beach, but around 5 km from the main road, you will find less good road. By personal car or motorbike, it will take about 2 hours to reach it. Kaliantan Lombok has long coastal line approximately 2 km. The waves are calm with white rolling which are quite far from the beach’s edge. The topography is unique; a combination of incline beach’s curving with small hills in some places. It is a white sandy beach and free of plastic rubbish.

In the park area, there is the first yard called Jabbal Kap. In this yard, you’ll be able to see twin pools which are surrounded by mangosteen trees. The next yard, is Mukedas. This second yard will be the first yard you will step in because it located right in after the entrance. In this yard, there is bale loji which was king’s resting place, and bale terang which was a warehouse. Then you need to down stairs to go to Padmawangi pool which there’s a fountain in the middle of it. In the north side of the pool there’s a small house which called bale petirtaan. Inside bale petirtaan there is Amerta Padmawangi which sourced from Rinjani mountain and you can ask for it to the caretaker. In the east side of the youthful look fountain, there is stair soars to Kalasa temple. Kalasa comes from the name of a sacred river in india, as a staying place for god Ciwa. This temple is indeed a worshipping place for god Ciwa. Unlike any other temples which divided into three main parts in line, this holy place only has two yards which form a square. In the outermost yard, you will see two bale gong. While in the inside yard, which is surrounded by red bricks, you will see three sanggahwhich symbolize the trinity in Hindu. This inside yard has two gates in the west and south side. 
To enter Kalasa temple, you have to see the caretaker first which lives in the north side of the temple. This temple only open at certain prays. 
When you step in Narmada temple, you'll feel as if you're in Rinjani mountain roomates surrounded by wood and lake. This holy place Narmada park stands impressively in the which is a 'miniature' of Rinjani mountain. Allegedly, king of Anak Agung Gede Karangasem built this temple because of his old age that he could not climb Rinjani mountain to do the pray. As a replacement, he built a temple in a mountain Rinjani 'miniature' the which is known as Narmada park.

From this temple, you can go to bale gong. There, you can see all the view of Narmada park and its surrounding area.
